I want to be able to say I am 100% vegan; but burgers are too delicious, and tofu tastes like garbage. I guess I am probably 85% Pescatarian which means I still eat seafood a lot but never chicken or eggs and very, very seldom pork but I can’t seem to escape a burger now and then. I’m not a freak about it, I aim high and laugh it off when I miss the mark.
As soon as I tell someone I don’t eat meat anymore they almost always ask me (as if shocked) WOW, what do you eat? ..as if there’s literally nothing else on the planet.
I’ll be honest, it’s a journey to get to a place where you can think of what is basically a fancy side dish, to seeing it as the main event. When you finally make the switch in your head, it gets easier. I live with a beef annihilating, carnivore, barbarian so anything I make is not only a side dish, but a side dish he will not eat. My barbarian wants a giant slab of barely dead animal on his plate, or he thinks he will shrivel up and die. When I do the cooking, I try to keep this in mind and plan something that looks like a real meal in case strangers pop in to grade us on our life skills.
Recipes for all of these suggestions are in my online recipe book.
