OLYMPICS

The Opening Mockery of the 2024 Olympics

There was a lively exchange via text message among my family members regarding whether or not to boycott the Olympics over the blasphemous opening ceremony in which a bunch of drag queens mocked God in a delusional parody of the Lords Supper.

Let me be clear, whether you are male or female and you choose to wear this or that is of no consequence to the nature of this statement. It is strictly about that part where God has been mocked. I don’t care if you cross dress or undress, this is not about your fashion choices.

My question is this: Where do we draw the line? If not over a parody mocking God, then where? At what point do we take a stand for Jesus Christ and shout “NO MORE!! MY GOD WILL NOT BE MOCKED!”

Another concern presented in that chat thread was this: “If we don’t still watch the Olympics then all those athletes who worked so very hard will be hurt as a result.”
I just don’t think that’s an accurate assessment. Maybe the Olympians at the next games will be affected if everyone stops watching, but not the 2024 Olympics, that ball is already in motion.

The athletes are over there sleeping on LITERAL cardboard and experiencing Paris’ worst electrical blackout ever, they are being fed food they hate and are being limited in where they can go and for how long they can be there. They will not be the ones who benefit from the televised showings of the Olympic events. The promoters and producers are the ones who benefit. Even the drag queens got paid. Olympians do not get paid unless they win Gold, Silver or Bronze medals which generally include monetary prizes…and even then, many of those prizes are allocated by contract to coaches or other supporters in full or in part.

This year’s athletes will still benefit even if no one watches the televised events because they have proven their worth just to qualify, to compete, and they will even further prove their greatness when they place or win in their event. The offers will come, for jobs, for advancement in their field and an assortment of other grand perks and even fame…but none of that will be from advertising dollars paid to the Olympics…all that money goes much higher up and the Olympians will never see a dime of it.

Dare I say this is just another example of Greek Roman times when men were thrown into an arena among blood thirsty lions and other devouring animals purely for the entertainment of onlookers in order to take the attention away from the sinister business dealings of the powers that control the world. If you don’t believe our government is out to distract you from their shady dealings, you’ve got your head in the sand.

Are the Olympians who dedicate their lives to their skill in various sports being dangled like fresh meat for our entertainment? Our Olympians, our fellow man, people we share this earth with should be honored for their great achievements, I just don’t see how that is further accomplished by mocking God.

Let’s be honest with each other here. France has notoriously hated the western world, specifically the United States and they have made multiple statements admitting it was a targeted, passive aggressive, attack on our society.

If you have even been to France then you have probably been subject to their unjustified hatred for Americans. (Yes, I’ve been there, yes, I experienced it firsthand in a very obvious way.)

I just spent a full week in California with my grandkid playing softball and we had a wonderful time and I always love watching her play and every single game I find myself kind of daydreaming about how far she could go. Then something like this happens and I thin, this whole world is set up so everything is a money grab and a financial racket or even just a grand distraction from the things that really matter.

Why can’t kids just play and have fun and be kids? Why can’t we go back to a time when if you were great at something in school a college would notice you.  Why oh why do we have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on summer sports and private lessons and multiple uniforms and overpriced gear aiming for a lofty goal that only makes someone ELSE rich?

The Olympians competing in the Olympic games deserve all the cheering and adoration they can garner; but not at the expense of our one and only Creator, God and certainly not for the profit of those who seek to do evil.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” What does it mean to “mock God?”

I’ll let God’s word provide the answer:
“As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same” (Job 4:8)
